The two Universities offer 10 joint PhD positions for prospective international candidates to apply each year. This year, the Centre for Maths Imaging Techniques has been awarded a post by this scheme on a project "New Mathematical Models for Longitudinal Perfusion-weighted Imaging Study of Lesion In Stroke", supervised by Prof. Ke Chen (Liverpool) and Prof Gloria Yang <fpyang@hss.nthu.edu.tw>, expected to start from 1 Oct or 1 Sept 2017. During the project period, the successful candidate will stay in each University for 2 years. Students at the B.Sc or M.Sc level with background in Mathematical or Computational Sciences are encouraged to apply. The accepted candidate will work on this exciting research problemwith real life applications at the intersection of mathematical analysis, numerical analysis, medical image processing, and scientific computing. The student will also benefit from the large team of multidisciplinary experts in the research centres.
Solid mathematical background and knowledge of programming languages and software tools (e.g. Matlab, Python) are required. Above all, the applicants must be self-motivated to learn quickly and work effectively on challenging research problems.
