Conference on Integral Geometry, Geometric Inequalities,
Finsler Geometry and Convexity Related Topics

Integral geometry, known as geometric probability in the past, originated  from Buffon's needle experiment. Crofton, Poincare, Blashke, Chern, Santalo and others made great contributions in the past centuries. Its applications have added  to Medical Science, Economy, Industrial, and Algebra, Geometric Inequalities, Differential Equations, Topology, Geometric Convexity, and other mathematical branches. Remarkable advances have been made in several areas that involve theory of convex bodies. Recent development of Finsler geometry and geometric inequalities and their applications to information sciences are encouraging. The first international conference on Integral Geometry and Convexity Related Topics was held at Wuhan University of Science and Technology , October 18-22, 2004. Th is conference will bring together researchers in integral geometry, convex geometry, complex geometry, probability, statistics, and other convexity related branches to discuss recent results and directions for future research. It is anticipated that this unusual mix of specialties will lead to a useful exchange of ideas. We also invite several international well-known mathematicians to address their latest achievement on those areas.

Major themes will be probabilistic and analytic methods in the study of convex bodies, especially in high dimensions, applications of integral geometry and convex-geometric methods to other branches of Mathematics, isoperimetric-type inequalities, Radon transforms, Finsler geometry and applications to medical, economic and information sciences.

Students working on those related areas are strongly encouraged to attend.

Chern Institute of Mathematics will provide accommodations for all invited participants
