Abstract
School of Engineering at Nazarbayev University invites applications for the position of full-time Postdoctoral Scholar to commence in September 2017. We are primarily interested in candidates with expertise in the following broad application areas:
1. Electrical and Computer Engineering
2. Civil Engineering
3. Chemical Engineering
4. Mechanical Engineering
We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. Applicants should have been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and are expected to have publications in top ranked journals/conferences in the areas of their expertise. Excellent communication skills and English fluency are required. Educational background in Engineering is expected.
The postdoc will largely work independently under the supervision of a faculty member. The applicants are encouraged to contact the respective professors to identify research directions and further details on facilities and infrastructure. Postdoctoral Scholars are also expected
to teach one course per semester relevant to their area of research and/or based on Department’s needs.
The NU campus is located in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in the heart of the new and ultra-modern Left-Bank region of the city. Incoming faculty will enjoy a cosmopolitan living experience, interwoven with traditional cultural influences in food and entertainment. The social life offers a rich and vibrant atmosphere with excellent clubs and restaurants, theater, music, opera, dancing, museums, modern and traditional bazaar shopping, professional and amateur sports, outdoor recreation, and much more.
Initial appointment is on a 1-year renewable contract with a possibility of annual renewal for up to 4 years maximum, subject to annual performance reviews. An attractive internationally competitive remuneration package will include:
